A new cell phone ahs been launched by Rogers Wireless in Canada, that’s “certified to military standard 810 F for dust, drops, vibration, temperature extremes, and humidity”. Motorola Extreme has a 2.2″ display, 2 megapixel camera with 8x zoom, holds up to 4GB optional removable memory, Internet browser and high speed 3G downloading capabilities.

ZTE U990 WinMo handset. Chinese manufacturer ZTE announced their first Windows Mobile handset, the U990. It’s the world’s first HSDPA/TD-SCDMA handset. The mobile phone by ZTE comes with a dual mode that supports both HSDPA and TD-SCDMA (3G network for China). The new U990 has a high-speed transmission rate of up to 2.8 Mbps, the fastest transmission speed amoung the TD-SCDMA terminals available in the industry, offering consumers the best possible mobile experience.
The new model supports dual mode TD-SCDMA/EDGE allowing seamless transitions between the two networks. Its HSDPA speed is capable of reaching 2.8Mbps for downlink transmission and 384kbps for uplink transmission, ensuring high-speed HSDPA service under TD-SCDMA network infrastructure in China. ZTE U990 runs on Windows Mobile 6.0 operating system and is the first ZTE handset integrated with a Microsoft OS. It features 3G, equipped with both GPS/AGPS navigation technologies.

LG KP500 TouchScreen phone. A new high-end full touch screen phone has been announced by LG. The mobile phone comes with a 3″ Full touch screen, Active flash UI, Handwriting & Editing, Motion sensor game, Auto rotating display, Embedded stylus pen. There is also a QWERTY keyboard that slides into view when the device is held horizontally.

iPhone Facebook App version 2.0. A new version of Facebook app is now available for the iPhone users. Some of the new features included in the new version are Notifications, Full News feed, People search, Friend requests, Photo tagging, captioning and posts to friends’ Walls, Full Mini-Feed, now combined with The Wall, Access to the entire inbox along with “Sent” folder and updates tab, Inbox search, Chat, and Message attachments.

Samsung Pixon 8 megapixel cameraphone. We already heard some 8MP phones such as Samsung M8800 Bresson, LG KC910, etc. Samsung has recently unveiled another handset, Samsung Pixon cameraphone, coming with a 3.2-inch touchscreen display, 8 megapixel auto-focus camera with face detection and geo-tagging support, it’s capable of recording video at 60 and 120 fps, LED flash. Samsung Pixon sports a quad-band (850/900/1800/1900Mhz) GSM/EDGE radio, single-band (2100Mhz) UMTS/HSPA (3G) radio, FM radio with RDS, TV-out jack, and microSD card slot. The phone measures at 13.8mm thick. Samsung Pixon is expected to come in Europe mid-October. No word on pricing yet, Stay tuned.

New Firmware Update for Nokia N82. Nokia has released the newest firmware version for all Nokia N82 handsets. The new firmware 30.0.019 brings a new Flash Lite version, Maps 2.0, new music player, less sensitive automatic display rotation. There are also other various enhancements that should make the overall user experience that much better.

Nokia launches Nokia Data Gathering, a new software solution to help public sector and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) quickly and accurately collect data on critical issues such as disease outbreaks or disaster relief via mobile devices. The Amazonas State Health Department in Brazil will be the first to use the solution as part of its fight against dengue fever in the city of Manaus in Northern Brazil.
