Android handsets to be offered by China MobileAndroid handsets to be offered by China Mobile? According to industry sources in Taiwan, China Mobile may be offering Android-powered handsets through cooperation with HTC.

China Mobile, among mobile telecom carriers in China, is the only one to join the Open Handset Alliance (OHA), the sources pointed out. In addition, China Mobile and Google, Marvell, China-based software developer Borqs International formed a technology alliance in September 2007 to promote a Linux-based open mobile system (OMS), integrating mobile applications specifically for the China market, the sources indicated.

As an alternative, China Mobile may seek cooperation from HTC to offer an Android handset first by the end of 2008 before offering OMS handsets, with the Android handset possibly to support China’s TD-SCDMA 3G standard, the sources pointed out.

With the GreenHeart concept, Sony Ericsson is looking to the future, to ensure the full life cycle of a mobile phone can be made more environmentally friendly.
