Flash Lite 31 update available for Nokia 5800 XpressMusicNokia and Adobe have finally released Flash Lite 3.1 for Symbian S60 5th Edition. Owners of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic can upgrade their Flash Lite player to version 3.1 from the “App update” utility. Flash Lite 3.1 includes H.264 standard video support, the same standard deployed in Blu-ray and HD-DVD high-definition video players and HD web videos. There is also Improved Web browsability. After installing Flash Lite 3.1, you’ll see that Flash performance on web pages is way smoother.

Adobe Flash Lite 3.1 also includes Support for hardware acceleration (Flash Lite 3.1 supports OpenVG 1.1 to improve flash rendering performance on capable devices). And, New object-oriented extension mechanism (This mechanism provides easier and faster integration with device APIs).

Nokia Messaging for S60 5th Edition is now out of beta

Good news for Nokia Messaging for Symbian S60 5th Edition users, Nokia announced that the client is already out of beta. It is now ready for download from email.nokia.com. Some small bugs have been fixed and the application has been been translated into twenty more languages. The next version of the client is coming this summer. Nokia will include the client with support for HTML, APN Destinations, homescreen integration. The touch control and scrolling within the email client are also enhanced.

A new touchscreen smartphone with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard has recently been unveiled by LG, it’s LG GW520. The handset will be available across most UK networks in June. LG GW520 comes with 3G HSDPA connectivity, 3 megapixel camera and a large 2.8-inch touchscreen display, ‘push’ service for social networking, and more.

PlayNow™ arena with movies is a bundled movie service from Sony Ericsson, included out-of-the-box for selected handsets, allowing consumers to watch up to 60 movies a year on their mobile phone. Optimised to give consumers the best possible viewing experience, users can choose from a selection of around 15 movies at any one time, with additional titles being added to the catalogue each month. After ‘side loading’ feature length films onto your phone, you can watch them as often as you like for up to 90 days.

Downloaded movies will be automatically formatted to match the performance of your phone. Experience sublime picture quality, soulful sound and images so sharp you’ll have no trouble reading subtitles and seeing the small details.

PlayNow arena with movies will make its debut with the W995 Walkman phone, launching in Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, Germany and the UK from June 2009. Additionally the service will also be made available on upcoming phones such as Satio and Aino.

Sony Ericsson Yari is a gaming phone with a 2.4-inch QVGA (240×320 pixels) screen, Face detection, Geo tagging, dedicated gaming keys, stereo speakers, 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus and flash, pre-installed motion-sensitive games, and more. Verizon Wireless has recently announced three mobile phones by LG, they’re LG enV3, LG enV Touch, and LG Glance. LG enV3 is the successor to the previous LG enV2. LG enV3 features a 3-megapixel camera, EVDO and Visual Voicemail, QWERTY keyboard, microSD card slot. LG enV Touch features two 3-inch size display screen, the external screen is also a full touch screen for touch input. There is a 3.2 megapixel camera on the enV Touch. While the super-slim LG Glance features a 1.3-megapixel camera.

LG enV3 costs $129.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement from Verizon. LG enV TOUCH will be available for $149.99 after a $70 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement. LG Glance will be available for $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement. LG enV Touch and LG Glance will be available June 5 at all Verizon Wireless Communications Stores.

Android Developer Challenge 2 launched

Android Developer Challenge 2 launchedGoogle has launched the second Android Developer Challenge (ADC 2). The ADC 2 full terms and conditions will be available soon. Developers will submit their apps to one of 10 specially-designated ADC 2 categories (see below) beginning in August. An application can only be submitted to a single category. It must run on Android 1.5 and be in English.
