Hewlett-Packard has finally announced the HP Slate 500 tablet. The Slate tablet computer comes with a 1.86GHz Intel Atom Z540 CPU (512 KB L2 cache, 533 MHz FSB), Intel System Controller Hub (SCH) US15W chipset, integrated 802.11b/g/n WiFi + Bluetooth 3.0 + HS combo, 64 GB SSD, 2 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, HDMI out port, built-in USB 2.0 port, and a digital stylus (HP Slate Digital Pen) that lets users write notes directly on the screen.

The HP Slate 500 boasts an 8.9-inch diagonal WSVGA wide-viewing angle multi-touch display, which is slightly smaller than the Apple iPad’s 9.7-inch display. HP Slate 500 tablet is equipped with Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 500 along with Broadcom Crystal HD Enhanced Video Accelerator.

The HP Slate tablet has two cameras, a VGA webcam can be used for web conference with colleagues, and the 3MP camera lets you take still shots. Coming with 2-cell (30 WHr) polymer battery that provides 5 hours of battery life, you can charge your HP Slate 500 in the HP Slate Dock and gain even more ways to connect accessories.

NOT the same as the Samsung Galaxy Tab which is powered by Google’s Android software, the HP’s new touch screen tablet runs the latest version of Microsoft’s computer OS - Windows 7 Professional 32. Size wise, the HP Slate 500 measures 9.21 x 0.58 x 5.91 in (23.40 x 1.47 x 15.00 cm) and has a weight of 1.5 lb (0.68 kg).

HP Slate 500 which is designed for business customers will be available for $799 in retail stores next month.
