Nokia 500 with Symbian Anna OS and 1GHz processor

Nokia has announced a new smartphone called "Nokia 500". The new smartphone runs on Symbian Anna OS with a refreshed UI and has 1GHz processor.

Nokia 500 features a 3.2-inch capacitive touch display (640x360 pixels), 5MP camera, FM radio receiver, Internet Radio access, 2GB of storage memory, up to 32GB using the micro-SD card slot, Bluetooth 2.1, Wi-Fi b/g. The new cell phone measures 111.3 x 53.8 x 14.1mm and weighs in at 93g – lighter than any other Symbian^3 phone to date.

Nokia 500 will cost just EUR 150 before taxes and subsidies, excluding any local taxes or operator subsidies, and will be available from Q3 2011.

According to Nokia's developer site, the 1 GHz CPU used on Nokia 500 is based on ARM11. To give some perspective, ARM Cortex A8 and Cortex A9 are newer than the older ARM11 cores. iPhone 3G is also based on ARM11 processor while the iPhone 3GS already uses ARM Cortex A8. FYI, Nokia N900 is equipped with ARM Cortex-A8 processor.
