Ricoh improves on a popular color printer -- RICOH SP C440DN adds support for second network, keeps costs at industry lows

Ricoh has unveiled a new version of its market-leading laser printer for workgroups needing all-day affordable, reliable color in higher-than-average volumes. The RICOH SP C440DN prints 42 pages of business documents per minute and in sizes up to 8.5 inches by 14 inches at resolutions up to 1200 x 1200 dpi.

Offering among the industry's lowest cost per page, the printer also supports today's newest workstyles. It enables mobile workers to print on demand via the RICOH Smart Device Print&Scan app. The RICOH SP C440DN can serve as many as two networks at once – e.g., a business's main and guest networks. An optional hard drive adds additional security options and enables printing on demand of commonly used documents.

"The RICOH SP C440DN updates models that led their market for years, helping companies achieve higher levels of information mobility even as they contain costs," said John Brophy, Vice President, Product Marketing, Ricoh Americas Corporation. "The new model preserves what customers liked, adds several new things they asked for such as dual network support, and surprises them with capabilities we know they'll love."

The low cost of ownership makes it easy for companies to upgrade from monochrome to cost-effective color printing to make a bigger business impact. The RICOH SP C440DN prints documents in black and white at a cost of 1 cent per page and in color for 5 cents, well under typical costs of 7 cents per page and up.

The printer handles the broadest range of media in its class – up to 140lb stock. This more expansive media handling means organizations can save money by bringing more jobs in house, e.g., postcards, banners and point-of-purchase displays. The printer can easily handle envelopes in every tray without special configuration.

For companies that keep their printer busy, the RICOH SP C440DN is particularly robust with an average monthly volume of 3,200 pages and maximum monthly volume of 20,000. The printer supports high-volume host printing* enabling a retailer, for example, to automatically print packing slips and return labels as online purchases pour in.

New energy-saving features include an Eco Night Sensor that shuts the printer down when ambient light fades. PANTONE® color matching support helps ensure documents look precisely as their creator intended.

The manufacturer's suggested retail price for the RICOH SP C440DN is $1,499.
