Data Wipe Feature for iPhone 2.0 Firmware completely erases user data. It’s good to hear that Apple has rolled out a data security feature in the new iPhone firmware revision that will securely erase user data. iPhone 2.0 OS features an enhanced data-wiping capability built into its “Erase iPhone” feature. The current feature doesn’t allow for a complete memory wipe of user data, but screenshots of the iPhone 2.0 OS’s data-wipe feature shows that a more complete solution has been developed to wipe all traces of user data from the iPhone’s memory. AT&T memo lists iPhone 3G MMS Support. A new report from iPhoneAtlas said that an internal AT&T memo lists MMS support as a feature of the iPhone 3G. It allows transmission of text, pictures, and potentially video to other MMS-enabled phones. The AT&T memo was confirmed by an AT&T customer service representative. Yeah, since they aren’t known for delivering accurate information for upcoming products, so this is still a rumor. MMS may be seldom used in the US but it’s so popular in Europe. Stay tuned.

iPhone 3G pricing for Softbank Japan. Following on previous report as the exclusive iPhone carrier in Japan (iPhone for Japan via SoftBank), a new report said that Softbank would sell 3G iPhones starting from 23,040 yen ($214.6) in Japan. Softbank said the monthly charge for iPhone users would be 7,280 yen, including unlimited data-transmission usage, if subscribers sign up for a plan that allows them to talk free between Softbank subscribers most of the day. The 8GB iPhone 3G will be sold for 23,040 yen ($215), while the 16GB variant of the iPhone 3G will cost 34,560 yen ($320). Users can pay for the device over the course of two years.

iPhone 3G will not fit in old dock. According to an Apple store employee, old iPhone docks will not fit the iPhone 3G, so you should purchase a new dock for the 3G iPhone. “the iPhone 3G is shaped differently and doesn’t fit in the same dock.”
