Truphone has announced a strategic wholesale agreement with Optus, a leading Australian telecommunications provider. The agreement will provide Truphone access to the Optus national mobile network to deliver voice, data solutions and local mobile numbers in Australia for its newly launched Truphone Local Anywhere GSM service. Intel and Orange have announced a strategic agreement to deliver Orange multimedia services across a number of devices based on the Intel Atom Processor and MeeGo software platform. In 2009, NEC, Casio Computer and Hitachi were in talks to merge their mobile phone operations as early as April 2010, but that date will be missed as competition authorities required additional documentation. The launch of their merger on mobile handset operations will be delayed by about one month beyond its original schedule in April.
