An industry source is quoted as saying the relationship between Sony and Sony Ericsson has become “frosty”, that Sony has learned from its “strategic error” of giving its Walkman name to Sony Ericsson and that Sony would “never” give its PlayStation branding to the Sony Ericsson joint venture. It allows transmission of text, pictures, and potentially video to other MMS-enabled phones. The AT&T memo was confirmed by an AT&T customer service representative. Yeah, since they aren’t known for delivering accurate information for upcoming products, so this is still a rumor. MMS may be seldom used in the US but it’s so popular in Europe. Stay tuned.

Following on previous Sprint Treo 800w Release Date and details, the previous rumor said that July 22 is the expected launch window for the Palm Treo 800w, And now we hear a scanned inventory sheet for Sprint was posted at HowardForums confirmed that the handset will drop on July 13, not July 22. Sprint Treo 800w will also sport a button on top of the device to toggle WiFi on/off. For business customers, they can expect to get their hands on the new hotness from Palm starting July 9. Following on previous report, Samsung SGH-i780 as ‘Samsung i788′ for AT&T?, A new rumor said that Samsung i788 coming to AT&T as Samsung BlackJack III. Samsung i788 is a Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional device, complete with touch screen. This new and freshly rumored device apparently will pack the 3G frequencies that the Samsung i780 doesn’t have, stylus, optical touchpad, WiFi, HSDPA, and GPS. Stay tuned.

Now, we heard new information from Engadget that BlackBerry Thunder will be on board for Verizon’s visual voicemail too. LG Dare on June 26. Verizon has announced the LG Dare alongside the LG Decoy and LG Chocolate 3 for CDMA network. LG Dare comes with a 3.2 megapixel camera, 3G, VCAST, and VZ Navigator. The touchscreen device has also VGA video recording, HTML Browser, 3.5mm headset jack, handwriting recognition, Bluetooth 2.0, EVDO Rev A, microUSB, and microSDHC (8GB), as well as a light sensor and proximity sensor to adjust screen brightness and turn off the LCD accordingly (for battery life). This LG handset is expected to be launched on June 26th.

Following on the possibly Garmin Nuvifone in white version alongside the confirmed Black Nuvifone, A new rumor said that Garmin has announced that it has, for the first time ever, outsourced production of a device. Nuvifone will apparently be manufactured by ASUS. According to DigiTimes, industry sources pointed out ASUS has been working with Garmin for two years on the project, with the Taiwan-based maker chiefly contributing its know-how in RF technologies. Garmin’s director of OEM and mobile marketing, Roger Jollis, confirmed that the first Nuvifone will be the first in line of Nuvifone-branded devices planned for the next few years. Stay tuned.

Market sources in Taiwan indicated that HTC is developing new MID (Mobile Internet Device) products, using Intel’s Atom and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset platforms. New devices are likely to be unveiled in the second half of 2008. According to HTC’s President and CEO, Peter Chou, they will continue to focus on “Internet experience through mobile devices” but will also adjust its deployment of UMPC products (HTC Shift). The reason for the change in their UMPC strategy is the rise of small and affordable laptop computers like the Asus eeePC, which people buy more.

Technically, it would have been the Samsung SGH-i788, which has the bands necessary for the US 3G networks. Samsung i788 is just a little thicker than the BlackJack II, features WiFi, GPS, and 3G. The rep mentioned that the Samsung i788 was not yet released instead of “Over the air.
