Spice X-1 Gaming PhoneSpice X-1 Gaming Phone. A mobile phone with a dedicated gaming console, Spice X-1, has been unveiled by Spice Mobiles Limited in India. It features a 2.4-inch screen, 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, FM radio with record and play feature, and a microSD expansion slot.

There’re also Yamaha-amplified 3D surround sound that provides decent sound quality. The dedicated gaming keys (like the Sony Ericsson F305) on the handset allow users play games without the console. Spice X-1 comes pre-loaded with an Opera mini-web browser and is priced at Rs.8899 ($210).

In preparation for an explosion of development around the upcoming Bluetooth high speed and low energy specifications, the PTS Version 3 adds test suites for seven profiles that will address new applications like health devices and streaming video, support for Windows Vista and an improved user interface. The PTS lets companies test in-house to reduce the time and cost of bringing new products to market and improves interoperability. Verizon Wireless announced that it has completed enhancements to its most advanced 3G high-speed wireless network (EV-DO Rev. A) throughout Florida, allowing customers to browse the Internet, download music, send e-mail and multimedia messages, and access other advanced wireless services more reliably and at even faster broadband speeds.

The enhancements to the EV-DO Rev. A network — which stands for Evolution-Data Optimized Revision A — took nearly two years, and entailed installing the most advanced hardware and software on thousands of cell sites in the Verizon Wireless network in Florida, as well as updating and optimizing technology in five Verizon Wireless regional network switching facilities throughout the state. O2 offers Home + Mobile Broadband

O2 offers Home + Mobile Broadband. A joint mobile and fixed broadband deal has been offered by O2 for its customers.

The joint offer is available for customers signing up to O2 Mobile Broadband between 1 August and 31 October 2008 who live within the O2 Home Broadband network – approximately 60 per cent of the UK population. The deal is also available to existing O2 Mobile and Home Broadband customers. Customers wanting to upgrade to a higher speed package or not covered by O2’s broadband network will receive a £7.50 per month discount on their chosen plan for 12 months.

You can also buy it for $279.95 with shorter two-year contracts, $429.95 for 1-year contract, and $479.95 sans any contracts. It’s understandable as in response to the recent release of the Sidekick 2008, giving entry-level Sidekick users with the latest handset rather than lesser device. The carrier confirms that there should still be “limited quantities” in stores across the land, but there’s no telling how long that’s going to last.
