3G baseband hacked, one step closer to iPhone 3G Unlock. Thanks to the iPhone Dev Team that we all can enjoy iPhone 2.0 Jailbreak Guide with Pwnage Tool 2.0.1, and Winpwn 2.0 - iPhone 3G Jailbreak for Windows. Although it lacked any iPhone 3g unlock support, The iPhone Dev Team is one step closer to providing a fully-functional iPhone 3G software unlock solution. This image is the “About” screen from a 3G iPhone. The modem firmware version has been successfully downgraded to an older ‘beta’ firmware. This is not an unlock yet, but it is iPhoneDevTeam’s illustration of the first progress made with regard to hacking the 3G baseband.
We have accomplished this by being able to execute our own code on the baseband that allows us to circumvent security checks and flash the baseband with older, disallowed firmware. Please note this has been accomplished using software only, the iPhone 3G has not been disassembled or hardware modified in any way.

China Mobile for 3G network. China Mobile has begun the marketing push for a public beta of 3G (third-generation) telephony services, hinting that full deployment may be available soon after the Olympics. Six handsets available as part of the trial are the Dopod s700, Motorola l800t, Chinese handset maker Haixin’s T66, LG KD876, Lenovo TD800, and Samsung i688.
TD-SCDMA was developed as part of a larger Chinese effort to create technology standards that would not require the payment of royalties to foreign patent holders. It is not compatible with any other 3G standard, and China’s carriers have not indicated they will support any other 3G standard. However, given the size of China’s domestic mobile market — about 550 million users — even 10 percent penetration would give TD-SCDMA more users than in many nations.
