iPhone 2.1 Firmware beta + GPS features. Following the previous iPhone Copy Paste in iPhone 2.1 SDK, A new report says that Apple has released a beta version of iPhone OS 2.1 to developers. The firmware has shown an updated Core Location library that is capable of tracking the iPhone’s direction and velocity of movement, tracking the direction you are heading, and the speed you are traveling. Following the previous Sprint Mogul Windows Mobile 6.1 Homebrew ROM Features, it looks like Sprint has let yet another beta version of the Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM get “leaked” out to the ROM-cooking community. Word is this ROM (3.49, radio 3.39.10) for Sprint is indeed the “almost official, but still technically beta” WM 6.1 update that many are expecting this summer from Sprint. McAfee Antivirus for iPhone? Yeah, we know that there’s not a virus for the iPhone yet because of how tightly Apple intends to control the third party application deployments. Apparently, that doesn’t stop McAfee from developing its software — the so called iVirusScan — for the platform.
