Nortel Networks Evolved EDGE. Nortel Networks has announced their new Evolved EDGE technology that will allow EDGE network operators to squeeze 3G speeds out of their poky 2.5G system. A simple software upgrade for an existing EDGE network enables Evolved EDGE and can more than double the spectral efficiency. The upgrade increases data performance rate with a downlink throughput of up to 1.2 Mbps with reduced latency. How does 1.2Mbps on the downstream sound? HTC Touch Cruise aka Xda Orbit 2 in O2 UK. UK business customers with an eye for new smartphones will now be able to pick up the cellphone from the carrier’s business store. Back in November, O2 is launching the phone, The carrier was unveiling the device in continental Europe, most notably Germany. And now O2’s British arm is following the suit by launching the same device.

Sony Ericsson K850i by Rogers Canada. Rogers Wireless is set to bring the Sony Ericsson K850i phone to Canada. According to some sources, Rogers is expected to get the Sony Ericsson K850i by the end of the first quarter. The Rogers Sony Ericsson K850i is rumored to cost you CAD $199.99 on a 3 year agreement and they’ll even throw in an 8GB Memory Stick Duo.

Palm Centro for T-Mobile? Palm Centro is rumored to be available soon for T-Mobile. T-Mobile in particular may have been specifically attracted by the strong positioning of the Centro in the youth market – an area that the carrier has always been very specific in targeting. At only $99 with a contract the Centro has clearly attracted a large audience that has been exposed to the iPhone marketing machine but unable or unwilling to buy one.
