ARM Mali-JSR297 Software Update for Mobile 3D Gaming. At the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, chip-designer ARM has announced an update to their graphics acceleration software. The ARM Mali-JSR297 software is said to be the “first product to enable developers of Java applications to take advantage of the latest hardware graphics features found in recent GPUs”.

Glu for N-Gage. Nokia and mobile games publisher Glu Mobile have jointly announced Glu’s initial line-up of games to be launched on the N-Gage platform in 2008. Two of the titles are based on films (Speed Racer, and The Dark Knight), and there are also ‘Super Slam Ping Pong’, and ‘Super K.O. Boxing!”.

Top Ten Mobile Phones for 3D performance. Pocketgamer has been working hard to find the top ten mobile phones on the marker 3D performance - of course, this is a somewhat subjective measure, because as anyone familiar with benchmarking knows, if you give a processor a task it excels at compared with others, it is bound to win! Anyway, the test in question here is “OpenGL ES 1.0 processing” - which is one of the industry graphics standards.
