Garmin said it will delay until next year the launch of its first smart phone and lowered its full-year outlook due to slower-than-expected sales of Global Positioning System devices. We arent’ sure whether this is related to the previous rumor that Garmin Nuvifone to be manufactured by ASUS, and recent report about Asus ZX1 Lamborghini, P560, M536 canceled. First the release of Nuvifone was expected in Q3 2008, then a delay to the fourth quarter and now not until mid 2009. Yeah, Bad news for us who’re looking foward to this smartphone. Stay tuned. Users with GPS-enabled BlackBerrys can get Garmin Mobile’s turn-by-turn, voice prompted directions for the life of their smartphone. Users will also have unlimited access to such content such as maps, millions of POIs, as well as Navteq’s database of points of interest, and easy-to-use navigation software.

Following on recent report, Garmin Nuvifone gets Hands-on, we hear that Garmin has just signed a multi year global agreement with GyPsii, a geo-location and mobile social networking provider, according to a statement from GyPsii. As per the agreement terms, GyPsii will provide technology, products, worldwide data center infrastructure, development licenses and GyPsii branding rights to Garmin. GyPsii would provide the rights on a non-exclusive basis, for a variety of Garmin products. The deal would help Garmin to incorporate in its future products, friend finding applications that support the GyPsii-powered-location-based social networking services platform. Garmin Nuvifone to be manufactured by ASUSGarmin Nuvifone to be manufactured by ASUS? Following on the possibly Garmin Nuvifone in white version alongside the confirmed Black Nuvifone, A new rumor said that Garmin has announced that it has, for the first time ever, outsourced production of a device. Nuvifone will apparently be manufactured by ASUS. According to DigiTimes, industry sources pointed out ASUS has been working with Garmin for two years on the project, with the Taiwan-based maker chiefly contributing its know-how in RF technologies. Garmin’s director of OEM and mobile marketing, Roger Jollis, confirmed that the first Nuvifone will be the first in line of Nuvifone-branded devices planned for the next few years. Stay tuned.

Garmin Nuvifone in White 1Garmin Nuvifone in White. A new rumor which is based on the questionable images you see here, said that Garmin Nuvifone may be available in White. Garmin is still expected to start shipping the Garmin Nuvifone in Black for $500 in Q3 2008, but if this latest rumor pans out, we could see the touchscreen handset released in both White and Black. The $500 price was before Apple iPhone 3G was announced at $200. Maybe we can expect a lower price tag when it actually comes out. Stay tuned.
