
Bell Samsung Instinct in Canada. As a follow-up to the previous Samsung Instinct for Bell Canada on August 8th, as aexpected the carrier has launched their Samsung Instinct for Canadians with cheaper price tags, starting at a $129.95 price tag with three-year contract required. You can also buy it for $279.95 with shorter two-year contracts, $429.95 for 1-year contract, and $479.95 sans any contracts. New Firmware Update for Samsung Instinct. A new firmware update is now available for Samsung Instinct that includes a number of small tweaks as well as updates made to its base code. Instinct users will notice increased audio volume when using Bluetooth headsets/car kits, as well as improved stability of the phone’s signal and battery indicators. Web browser is also improved, there’s also an ability to set a saved image as the background wallpaper and recurring appointments are supported in the calendar. You’re already able to update your Samsung Instinct, go to Menu > Settings > General > choose ‘Update Phone’.

Touchscreen handset shipments to exceed 230 million by 2012. According to IMS Research, Touchscreen-equipped mobile handsets sales will increase to over 230 million by 2012. There are numerous signs pointing that touchscreens are poised to significantly increase their presence in the handset market. Three of the largest mobile phone manufacturers have highlighted a trend in the increased production of phones using touch technology:
+ In July, LG revealed that it had sold seven million touchscreen handsets.
+ Just one week after the launch, Sprint announced that the Instinct had already become the best selling EV-DO device in the carrier’s history.
+ Apple reported selling one million of the new 3G iPhone handsets in just the first three days of its release.
Finally, we will also hear from Nokia in the near future for that S60 Touch, its touchscreen handsets.

Sprint Samsung Instinct for $129.99. It looks like the previous rumor that the Sprint Samsung Instinct would be priced at $199 has missed its mark. And, now Sprint just announced pricing for Instinct, a new wireless device that offers consumers an industry-leading user experience by combining full touch-screen functionality with the fast speeds available on the largest national mobile broadband network. When the device launches on June 20, it will cost just $129.99 with a two-year contract after a $100 mail-in rebate.
Sprint is offering a the handset with a $69.99/month wireless rate plan that includes 450 minutes and unlimited data. Instinct complements Sprint’s signature Simply Everything Plan offering both unlimited nationwide voice and data services for just $99.99 per month. Sprint Samsung Instinct for $199.99. While everyone is expecting the Apple iPhone 3G for $199.99, Sprint distributed internally the pricing for the Samsung Instinct. And, indeed, the price has responded to the announcement of iPhone 3G. The initial full retail price of the phone will cost $449.99. There will be a $150 instant rebate with new two-year agreements (standard for most Sprint devices). Sprint will add on top of that, a $100 mail-in rebate specifically for Instinct. Combining both rebates, the final price of Instinct will be $199.99. That is the same price as iPhone 3G, taking into account the two-year agreement on both carriers.

Visual Voicemail License (Sprint’s Samsung Instinct + Klausner Technologies). We’ve heard Sprint’s Samsung Instinct M800 (iPhone Competitor) in the previous post, a 3G touchscreen smartphone which was recently announced by Sprint with Visual Voicemail feature. And, what’s surprising is that Sprint calls the voicemail management feature the same as Apple on the iPhone.
