Mobile Broadband for ‘Free’ next year. A broadband comparison site has claimed, Mobile broadband could be bundled with standard contracts as early as 2009. According to Top 10 Broadband, If the current rate of price-cutting continues, mobile broadband will soon be perceived as free of charge. “It is only a matter of time before mobile broadband modems are offered for free with mobile phone packages,” said Jessica McArdle, a spokeswoman at Top 10 Broadband. In another analogy, they say that the uptake of mobile broadband (dongles) is at the same sort of rate as it was for mobile phones in the early 1990s.

February edition of the Best Buy Mobile buyer’s guide has a Nokia N810 featured on the front, but it isn’t your typical blue steel model, this version is black. Could this simply be a new color varient or a brand spanking new WiMAX equipped Internet Tablet? Upon further inspection it looks like this very well may be the N830. If you zoom in a bit, it looks as though the model is the N830, which would further indicate this being the WiMax version.

CTIA is coming up (April 1-3), expect this Nokia N830 WiMAX device to be annouced then in conjuntion with the launch of Sprint’s WiMAX network.

Following on rumors that Apple’s next-generation iPhone (or Newton) would make use of Intel’s x86-based Silverthorne chip, and Intel’s overtures with their iPhone-mocking mobile internet device, Intel is slated to debut the Silverthorne microprocessor later this week. The upcoming single-core processor known as Silverthorne is a 45nm processor designed for the mobile market, such as UMPCs and tiny notebooks.

After famously winning Apple’s computer business, Intel appears to have its sights set on providing the powerplant for the iPhone and its descendants.
