In the original firmware there was a handy “.com” button when entering URLs, but you had to manually type “.net” and “.org” and other domain suffixes. Now, when you type in a URL, Just HOLD DOWN the “.com” button to get a selection of 3 other domain name endings “.net,” “.edu,” and “.org”. Enjoy your mobile browsing!

We’ve already seen that iPhone Firmware 2.0, and all are waiting for iPhone 3G to be out tomorrow, the iPhone Dev Team has posted screenshots of what looks to be the iPhone 2.0 OS boasting both the AppStore as well as Installer. The network logo in the below screenshot also shows MTS as the network of choice (Yeah, it’s unlocked), MTS is an unofficial iPhone network.

As you know, a new jailbroken iPhone3G (full read/write access) will allow us to get freely distributed iPhone apps from AppStore and many sources. The screenshot also shows the tool “BootNeuter” loaded under iPhone OS 2.0. This utility allows users to fully unlock the iPhone for use on unauthorized carriers. Yeah, iPhone 2.0 Jailbreak will be launching in the near future. Stay tuned.

It’s good to hear that Apple has rolled out a data security feature in the new iPhone firmware revision that will securely erase user data. iPhone 2.0 OS features an enhanced data-wiping capability built into its “Erase iPhone” feature. The current feature doesn’t allow for a complete memory wipe of user data, but screenshots of the iPhone 2.0 OS’s data-wipe feature shows that a more complete solution has been developed to wipe all traces of user data from the iPhone’s memory.
