
KDDI Portable Viewer System - electronic paper (e-paper) display. KDDI R&D Laboratories Inc prototyped the “Portable Viewer System,” which wirelessly transmits an image stored in a mobile phone and displays it on a 13.1-inch color electronic paper display. “This is the first electronic paper that displays images stored in a mobile phone,” the company said. It can render 4,096 colors and take about 12 seconds for the display to redraw the entire image on the screen.

New prototype 3D LCD display screen by KDDI. KDDI shows off a new prototype LCD display screen destined for mobile phones that’s capable of showing 3D images.
With the 2 images in a slightly different position, the stereoscopic LCD display tricks your eye into thinking there’s a real 3D image right in front of them.
KDDI demonstrated the prototype with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, and both still images and video could be viewed in 3D.

Casio Exilim W63CA on FCC. Casio Exilim W63CA has recently been spotted on FCC. This mobile phone is the successor to the previous W53CA, it has a 8 megapixel camera, WVGA (800×400 pixel) screen. Japanese carrier KDDI is stamped on the sticker, but that it’s been slapped on the FCC’s desk offers hope we’ll see it stateside.

E Ink Vizplex Imaging Film based displays selected by Casio Hitachi Mobile Communications. The leader in electronic paper display technologies, E Ink Corporation, announced that Casio Hitachi Mobile Communications Co. of Japan has selected E Ink Vizplex Imaging Film based displays for its newest family of mobile phones. CH-Mobile is planning on several product releases. These are the world’s first clamshell style mobile phones to use E Ink’s revolutionary electronic paper technology on the outside.
Hitachi W61H phone was the first of these product releases, featuring a secondary display utilizing E Ink Vizplex display on the external surface of the phone. Famous Japanese designer SeKiYuRiO created the Hitachi W61H to resemble a perfume bottle. The 2.7” diagonal E Ink display scrolls through 96 different images in a stylish animation and is activated when a call or message is received, or when the clamshell phone is opened for use. KDDI + Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Partnership for Online Bank. According to Reuters, KDDI and The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ have been in partnership to set up an online bank. KDDI and Bank of Tokyo expect to have 2.4 million accounts and deposits representing a total of 1 trillion yen ($9.27 billion) in the fiscal year starting April 2010. Then, in the following two years, the bank plans to have a total of 3.4 million accounts and 1.5 trillion yen in deposits. The 50-50 joint venture will be called Jibun Bank or “me bank,” and will reportedly debut in mid-July.

Over 100 million Panasonic Mobile Phones were sold. Panasonic Mobile Communications Co., Ltd (Panasonic Mobile) announced that at the end of March this year it became the first mobile phone manufacturer to achieve a record delivery of 100 million units of mobile communication terminals to Japanese mobile phone carriers.
