Touchscreen handset shipments to exceed 230 million by 2012. According to IMS Research, Touchscreen-equipped mobile handsets sales will increase to over 230 million by 2012. There are numerous signs pointing that touchscreens are poised to significantly increase their presence in the handset market. Three of the largest mobile phone manufacturers have highlighted a trend in the increased production of phones using touch technology:
+ In July, LG revealed that it had sold seven million touchscreen handsets.
+ Just one week after the launch, Sprint announced that the Instinct had already become the best selling EV-DO device in the carrier’s history.
+ Apple reported selling one million of the new 3G iPhone handsets in just the first three days of its release.
Finally, we will also hear from Nokia in the near future for that S60 Touch, its touchscreen handsets.

LG Chocolate 3 on Verizon. LG Chocolate III is the successor to the LG chocolate 2. Verizon LG Chocolate 3 sports a 2 megapixel camera,, EVDO (without Rev. A) data connection, FM transmitter and microSD card. LG Chocolate 3 is slated to hit Verizon on July 14 and bring with it a price-tag of $129 with a 2-year contract and $50 rebate. LG Chocolate 3 is also available for $199 after $50 rebate with a 1-year contract, $299 for free and clear of any contracts.

LG KT610 - HSDPA Symbian Smartphone. LG just announced the KT610, an HSDPA and GPS equipped QWERTY device. The smartphone will run an OS that will be based on Symbian OS v9.2 and S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1. Support for push email functionality will also be incorporated. LG KF510. LG has announced the release of the KF510 a stylish, slimline slider that is to launch soon. LG KF510 is going to be on display at the 3GSM Mobile World Congress 2008 event in Barcelona, Spain next week. Sneaking in at a mere 11mm (.43″), the KF510 sports a metal frame and tempered glass display.

LG Rumor Firmware Fix Update from Sprint. LG and Sprint have now officially released a firmware fix, the fixed-up firmware for LG Rumor users to download post-haste. Sprint released the V06 Rumor update, affecting the LG LX260 Rumor.The new firmware is available to Sprint’s LG Rumor owners and is an OTA (over-the-air) download, so updating your LG Rumor is as easy as a couple button-presses.
Rumor owners can update their firmware by navigating their menu to: Menu > Settings > Tools > Update Firmware
LG Watch at the CES 2008 is a wrist phone concept with a very innovative user interface. Its a watch. And a phone. The prototype is a 4-ounce GSM phone with a 1.5-inch, high res screen, which you navigate using a scroll bar and two action buttons at the bottom of the phone.
You can either talk into the watch and listen to it by holding it up to your ear, or by using a Bluetooth headset. A bar on the bottom of the watch casing is used to interact with the watch phone.
