The agreement with FIFA enables Sony Ericsson to partner with one of the world’s most popular sports and adds to the existing Sony Ericsson sponsorship portfolio. Sony Ericsson will apply the knowledge gathered from its continuing successful sponsorship of the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour, the largest sponsorship of professional women’s sport, to engage with consumers through new and exciting experiences.

According to Reuters, Symbian could expand its collaboration with Google Inc to the operating system level as it moves to grant free and open access to its software platform. (possibly Android?) “We already work together and so whatever collaboration, if there is an opportunity, we will be happy to collaborate with them,” Symbian chief executive Nigel Clifford told reporters in Tokyo. Symbian software is used in some 60 percent of smartphones — mobile handsets with computer-like capabilities — but Apple Inc’s iPhone or new categories of phones based on Google’s Android software could challenge that dominance. Samsung SGH-F268 and SCH-W510 Environmentally Friendly Mobile PhonesSamsung SGH-F268 and SCH-W510 Environmentally Friendly Mobile Phones. Samsung Electronics announced two environmentally friendly mobile handsets, W510 and F268, at the World IT Show in Seoul. W510 is Samsung’s first mobile phone with ‘bio-plastic’ made from natural material extracted from corn. Samsung has been making an effort to develop more renewable and eco-friendly material compared with common plastic produced from petroleum. The W510 sports a 2.1″ TFT LCD with a 240 x 320 pixel format.

Moreover, when producing W510, Samsung did not use any heavy metals, such as lead, mercury, and cadmium, and applied water-soluble coating. Samsung F268 and all its accessories, including charger and headset, do not contain BFRs (brominated flame retardants) or PVC. Samsung also announced that it will stop using BFRs for new models to be developed from 2009 and PVC from 2010.
