ClearPad Sensor for Touchscreen SH906i Clamshell. Synaptics announced today that its ClearPad™ solution is driving the interactive touchscreen in NTT DOCOMO’s new SH906i clamshell handset. Sharp SH906i is the first ClearPad-enabled touchscreen mobile phone in Japan’s mobile handset market. The SH906i uses Synaptics’ ClearPad technology to enable finger-input character recognition capabilities for Japanese character entry. The combination of the SH906i character recognition software and Synaptics ClearPad solution improves usability for regions with more complex alphabets. 3G iPhone to sport GPS, Video Conference, Mobile TV? According to LeMatin.ch, the next-gen 3G iPhone would come with GPS, Video Conferencing and Mobile TV functionality. GPS and video conferencing (with front-sided camera) have both been rumored for the next generation iPhone (iPhone 2.0 for True GPS Support?, 3G iPhone + Video Chat with iChat), but the addition of mobile television is new. AT&T Mobile TV (New Mobile Entertainment Service) for LG Vu, Samsung Access. AT&T along with Qualcomm-owned MediaFLO announced the launch of AT&T Mobile TV with FLO, a mobile television service featuring high quality live programming. The mobile TV service will launch in May 2008 on two new exclusive handsets, the LG Vu and the Samsung Access. AT&T Mobile TV will also feature two exclusive channels, which will be announced soon.
