AT&T’s 3G Mobile Broadband Network Download Speeds Increase Up to 1.7 Mbps. AT&T announced a more than 20 percent increase to the top end of the company’s typical 3G network downlink speed range and a 50 percent increase to the top end of the typical uplink speed range for wireless laptop card customers(1). The upgrades are results of recent network enhancements, including the deployment of High Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA) technology across all existing 3G markets before the end of June. Sprint + Clearwire for WiMAX : New Mobile Broadband Company. Sprint and Clearwire announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement to combine their next-generation wireless broadband businesses to form a new wireless communications company. Intel, Google, Comcast, Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks will be investing $3.2 Billion into this new company and will split 22% of it among themselves. Clearwire will have will have a 27% stake in the new company and Sprint will control the remaining 51%.
More Mobile TV channels for Swisscom. A new service is to be added to Swisscom’s mobile TV menu - Bluewin TV mobile will available on the new DVB-H network that is being rolled out, giving a quality that is claimed to be as good as home TV sets, with customer having access to 20 channels.
