Access Linux Platform v3.0 and ALP mini - the next-generation successor to the Palm OS. We’ve previously heard some reports about Palm Nova Upcoming OS, and Palm Nova - Linux-based Palm 2.0 OS?, Recently, Access has announced version 3.0 of the Access Linux Platform. Providing little technical details, the company says the new version includes LiMo compatibility and a new advanced UI that features highly detailed visuals, smooth transitions and animations.
The company has also announced ALP mini that is targeted at feature phones and low-end smartphones to Internet-enabled, beyond-PC devices, such as portable navigation devices, portable media players and set-top boxes. Telus + Bell to deploy HSPA in Canada by 2010. Two largest CDMA carriers in Canada, Telus Mobility and Bell Canada announced plans to deploy HSPA technology by 2010 as part of an effort to eventually upgrade to Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology. Nokia Siemens Networks and Huawei will build the HSPA networks for them.
“Bell’s transition to the global 4G LTE standard with a combined EV-DO and HSPA network path aligns us with more than 30 major carriers worldwide planning a similar move to LTE,” said Stephen Howe, CTO for Bell. “This broad global technology ecosystem will mean a fast, efficient and cost-effective network transition to 4G LTE, and access to the broadest possible range of next-generation phones and data services.”

Sprint Palm Treo 800w Now Live. As a follow-up to the previous Sprint Palm Treo 800w Live Pictures, Sprint has finally launched the most anticipated Palm Treo 800w. The QWERTY-enabled device goes live on Sprint’s website. Palm Treo is slimmer, sleeker, and more power-packed than any of its Treo predecessors. The next-generation Palm smartphone comes with Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, GPS, WiFi (with a dedicated toggle switch), and EVDO Rev. A tucked under its 320×320 touchscreen display.

According to an analyst with FTN Midwest, JoAnne Feeney, in a research note, the next-generation iPhone (after the iPhone 3G that we’re waiting for) will be powered by a version of Intel’s (INTC) new Atom family of low-cost, low-power processors. iPhone SDK beta 8 now Available. While we can’t wait for the next-generation Apple iPhone 3G on July 11th, The iPhone SDK beta 8 has just been released by Apple. It’s the SDK that will work with the final iPhone 2.0 OS firmware. As usual, it’s recommended to keep your application up-to-date for a better performance. You may download the iPhone SDK from here.

BlackBerry 9100 KickStart More Pictures. From the previous posts, we’re already aware of this BlackBerry Kickstart Clamshell on T-Mobile USA (more details). It’s good to see that RIM is preparing to launch its first clamshell flip phone. From the last report we know that the mobile phone will be a quad-band (850/900/1800/1900Mhz) GSM radio, 2 megapixel camera, WiFi, and a 3.5mm headphone jack into the device. The internal display is reported to be a QVGA 240×320 jobby, while the external one display sports a 160×128 pixel resolution. The SureType keyboard is apparently a next-generation version of the double-letter keyboard, and BlackBerry OS 4.6. 3G iPhone will be 22% thinner + GPS? A new rumor for the next-generation iPhone, Leander Kahney got a hot tip from a programmer at a major software publisher who claims to have seen the specs for the iPhone 2. The 3G iPhone is speculated to be 22% less thick than the iPhone 1. Not only is it said to sport integrated GPS, but also to have better battery time than the current-gen iPhone, and a whopping 16GB or 32GB of storage. 3G iPhone confirmed to sport GPS? According to GigaOm, the next-generation iPhone (3G iPhone) will sport a Global Positioning System (GPS). The company supplying the GPS to iPhone is going to be a big winner in this space; according to my sources, the contract has been nailed down by Broadcom, a relatively new entrant into the GPS market, which had acquired Global Locate in July of last year.

Palm Nova - Linux-based Palm 2.0 OS?
