Samsung D780 DuoS Gold Plated edition as official Russian Olympic Team phone. A golden mobile phone is chosen by Russia to be its official Olympic team phone in China this year. This special edition phone is pretty much the same as the original Samsung D780 DuoS but now it’s elegantly equipped with gold plating and the Olympics logo at the back. In case you aren’t aware of the D780 DuoS specs, ok let’s recap, The shiny mid-range candybar has 2 SIM card slots, 2.1-inch QVGA screen, 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, FM Radio, microSD memory card slot and a 1200 mAh battery. No word on price yet, but this handset will start selling in about the time of the opening of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games in August.

China Mobile to accelerate TD-SCDMA networks. According to the official Xinhua news agency, The government of China has urged China Mobile to accelerate its TD-SCDMA preparations to ensure the 3G mobile service will be ready for the the Olympic Games. The company has been asked to upgrade TD-SCDMA networks, improve TD-SCDMA terminals and expand promotional acticvity.
