We knew a few third-party applications enabled push-email on iPhone over their Outlook Exchange servers. And now there’s a surprising rumor said that the next iPhone OS update - the iPhone OS 2.0 firmware - will launch packing native support for push email.

The latest build of iPhone OS 2.0, 5a274d, includes a a preference panel that allows users to control settings for applications with push capabilities. A new “Settings” pane under a new “Fetch New Data” category shows a toggle switch to enable push email. The screenshot also shows that push email is supported for .Mac. The next version of the iPhone OS will feature the ability to embed YouTube videos directly into a webpage allowing the user to click through and view video in the dedicated YouTube application. The feature works in a fashion similar to that of the bookmarklet ‘iTransmogrify’ from the last post (How to View Embedded YouTube for iPhone).

The feature works similarly to the way that iTransmogrify can make embedded YouTube videos viewable in the webpage. But, while iTransmogrify uses a bit of data URL magic to get its work done, the new iPhone v2.0 firmware apparently uses a Safari plug-in to play nice withe embedded YouTube videos.
