iPhone 2.0 Firmware to include Third-party Handwriting Recognition Software. We already heard this HWPen - Handwriting Recognition Application for iPhone before, And now there’s a new report, the HWPen application that was developed by Hanwang.com.cn has been acquired by Apple for use in the next major firmware release for the iPhone (iPhone 2.0 firmware).

iPhone 2.0 beta Firmware has Geo-Tagging Support for Camera Photos. The latest iPhone OS 2.0 firmware which is released privately to a select group of enterprise partners (firmware build 5A292g) adds a few new preferences and the beginnings of geo-tagging support for the handset’s Camera app.

Samsung L870 - Soul Smartphone? We’ve spotted 6 New Samsung Cell Phones Leaked (U800, i900, L870, M620, B510, and B300), one of them was L870, Now, there’s news from Mobile.cz about the handset, Samsung L870 should be launched next month, during Communic Asia on June 17th in Singapore.

iPhone 2.0 beta 5 Firmware includes 3G Data Settings Option? A blog claims that iPhone OS 2.0 beta 5 firmware includes 3G Data Settings Option. it has shown that the 3G iPhone will offer the user the option to turn on/off 3G data connectivity. The claim reads:
Note that this is not fake, it is in the beta 5 .ipsw, but will normally not show up on an EDGE iPhone. Turning 3G on will just crash the phone if you use an EDGE phone. If you do not believe me, then decrypt the beta5 rootfs dmg, and see for yourself in /Applications/Preferences.app/Network.plist

iPhone 2.0 Beta Firmware has Push Email Capability. We knew a few third-party applications enabled push-email on iPhone over their Outlook Exchange servers. And now there’s a surprising rumor said that the next iPhone OS update - the iPhone OS 2.0 firmware - will launch packing native support for push email.
The latest build of iPhone OS 2.0, 5a274d, includes a a preference panel that allows users to control settings for applications with push capabilities. A new “Settings” pane under a new “Fetch New Data” category shows a toggle switch to enable push email. The screenshot also shows that push email is supported for .Mac. iPhone 2.0 for True GPS Support? Apple could be readying the iPhone for true GPS support in the near term. It’s not clear whether the GPS support will come in the form of integrated GPS hardware or support for dock-connected GPS peripherals, but it does seem likely that GPS is coming to the iPhone.

iPhone 2.0 Firmware + Embedded YouTube Videos. The next version of the iPhone OS will feature the ability to embed YouTube videos directly into a webpage allowing the user to click through and view video in the dedicated YouTube application. The feature works in a fashion similar to that of the bookmarklet ‘iTransmogrify’ from the last post (How to View Embedded YouTube for iPhone).
The feature works similarly to the way that iTransmogrify can make embedded YouTube videos viewable in the webpage. But, while iTransmogrify uses a bit of data URL magic to get its work done, the new iPhone v2.0 firmware apparently uses a Safari plug-in to play nice withe embedded YouTube videos. Following the previous post, iPhone 2.0 Firmware has YouTube Plugin (Next, Flash support?), Recently we’ve spotted that the latest version of the iPhone 2.0 firmware (v1.2.0) brings features that we’ve long hoped for from Apple: the ability to save images from the Safari browser directly into the iPhone’s photo album, contact search capability, and allow meeting invitations through the iPhone’s iCal application - bringing it closer in line with the desktop version of iCal.
