Sony Ericsson Alicia Walkman Clamshell (leaked). This is a new SE handset codenamed “Alicia” that is a stylish Walkman clamshell with two displays. It’s quite the same thing as the already known W980i with small differences. With emphasis to the animations that appear on the outer and hidden display it’s another phone that could be seen as an emotional series phone. Its outer screen will feature some nice Walkman animations or the current weather condition, changing the theme depending on the time of the day. VLC Media Player for iPhone, iPod Touch. The popular VLC media player was just announced by Zodttd to be available for Apple iPhone and iPod Touch. As you may know, VLC by is a popular multi-format video and audio player for a wide variety of systems. VLC for iPhone/iPod Touch allows selected testers to playback MPEG/MPG, AVI and MP3 files. According to the author, Soon it will play: FLAC, OGG formats. He is also researching playback of: VCD, DivX, WMA, WMV. The application requires a jailbroken phone for installation. VLC for iPhone/iPod Touch is currently in private beta, but it will be released soon. Stay tuned.

Sony Ericsson R300 Radio, C902 Cybershot approved by FCC. Two Sony Ericsson handsets have been spotted passing the FCC, the R300 Radio and C902 Cybershot. Sony Ericsson R300 Radio is designed for developing countries. It comes with its AM/FM radio and dedicated loudspeaker.
Sony Ericsson R300 Radio features a simple VGA-resolution camera and a small 1.8″ color display. The handset also sports Sony Ericsson’s TrackID application, which allows you to record a small snippet of a song and get information such as artist, album, and track title right on your phone. iPhone 2.0 Firmware + Embedded YouTube Videos. The next version of the iPhone OS will feature the ability to embed YouTube videos directly into a webpage allowing the user to click through and view video in the dedicated YouTube application. The feature works in a fashion similar to that of the bookmarklet ‘iTransmogrify’ from the last post (How to View Embedded YouTube for iPhone).
The feature works similarly to the way that iTransmogrify can make embedded YouTube videos viewable in the webpage. But, while iTransmogrify uses a bit of data URL magic to get its work done, the new iPhone v2.0 firmware apparently uses a Safari plug-in to play nice withe embedded YouTube videos. Nokia Tube vs iPhone. Nokia showed off their iPhone fighting Nokia Tube at the Evans Data Developer Relations Conference in Redwood City, CA. Nokia Tube looks a lot like the iPhone, but then any mobile phone (mobile device) with a full-body touchscreen and a minimal bezel looks like the iPhone.
