Recent News for 4G network, Qualcomm announced that it has completed the world’s first data call using High-Speed Packet Access Plus (HSPA+) network technology. The call achieved a data transfer rate of more than 20 Mbps in a 5 MHz channel. HSPA+ will allow operators to double the data and triple the voice capacity of their networks compared to current HSPA deployments. Market sources in Taiwan indicated that HTC is developing new MID (Mobile Internet Device) products, using Intel’s Atom and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset platforms. New devices are likely to be unveiled in the second half of 2008. According to HTC’s President and CEO, Peter Chou, they will continue to focus on “Internet experience through mobile devices” but will also adjust its deployment of UMPC products (HTC Shift). The reason for the change in their UMPC strategy is the rise of small and affordable laptop computers like the Asus eeePC, which people buy more.

Asus ZX1 Lamborghini Windows Mobile Smartphone sports such goodies as HSDPA support, SiRFStar III GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, while Qualcomm’s 520 MHz CPU provides the processing power for Windows Mobile 6.1. The quad-band (850/900/1800/1900Mhz) GSM handset is also packed with a 2.8-inch TFT LCD screen @ 240 x 320 pixel resolution, tri-band (850/1900/2100Mhz) UMTS/HSDPA, USB 2.0, a 3 megapixel camera, and a microSD card slot. As a follow-up to the previous post (HTC Touch Pro (aka Raphael) now Official), There’s news said that O2 Germany will launch its version of the HTC Touch Pro (Raphael) under the Xda brand (the name isn’t unveiled yet) later this summer as well. The “O2’s Raphael” which is powered by a Qualcomm MSM 7201A CPU at 528 MHz will feature Windows Mobile 6.1, a 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera and on the front, the VGA camera for video telephony. HTC Touch Pro (aka Raphael) now Official 1HTC Touch Pro (aka Raphael) now Official. HTC Raphael was officially announced as HTC Touch Pro. This super-phone sports a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, it runs Windows Mobile 6.1 featuring HTC’s TouchFLO 3D interface, and it’s powered by Qualcomm’s MSM7201A 528 MHz CPU. The smartphone also features a 3.2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, microSD memory expansion slot, 288 MB of RAM coupled with 512MB of ROM, 2.8-inch VGA screen, including HSDPA, GPS, WiFi. It’s much thicker than HTC Touch Diamond. The 18.05mm thick device weighs 165 grams. Following the last post (HTC Dream - Android Demo Video) we already saw the touchscreen functionality including a configurable home screen launcher, accelerometer integration in Google Maps’ Street View, new unlock UI, etc. Here’s now there’s news : Android Q&A session at I/O reveals HTC Dream specifications. HTC Dream will apparently be rocking 3.6Mbps HSDPA, 128MB RAM / 256MB ROM, and a capacitive touchscreen - all powered by a Qualcomm MSM7201A processor clocking in at a speedy 528MHz. Stay tuned.
