New Beta of iPhone 2.1 Firmware with Push Notification Service. As a follow-up to the previous iPhone 2.1 Firmware beta + GPS features, Apple has released another 2.1 firmware release to developers (2nd beta), iPhone 2.1 SDK with Push Notification Service. The new version appears to include several bug fixes.
“This is the second beta of the iPhone SDK targeting iPhone OS 2.1, including bug fixes to iPhone OS as well as an early implementation of the Apple Push Notification Service API. This API is not yet integrated with a live push server.”
No word on the final version of iPhone 2.1 Firmware release date, but the included “Push Notification Service” was promised by September.

Open Source Wireless Sync for iPhone 2.0 Firmware debuted by Funambol. Funambol, the leading provider of Mobile 2.0 messaging software powered by open source, announced it has enhanced its native open source wireless sync app for iPhone 2.0. The application uses the new iPhone 2.0 SDK and enables users to wirelessly sync PIM data with a wide variety of consumer and enterprise email systems and clients. iPhone SDK beta 6 now Available. As a follow-up to the iPhone SDK Beta 5, iPhone SDK beta 6 is now out and available to grab. An updated version of Leopard (10.5.3) is required for this iPhone’s sixth SDK. About the Leopard 10.5.3, it brings Gmail/Address Book sync for iPhone users (Arstechnica has more about the 10.5.3). iPhone SDK beta 3 Available. We’ve seen from the previous post, iPhone SDK beta 2 adds new functionalities, Recently, Apple just released the iPhone SDK Beta 3. iPhone SDK beta 2.0 firmware is extended, included in the new version is a new tutorial, various bug fixes and “support for the latest iPhone OS”.
