Following the previous iPhone 3G exclusively for AT&T until 2010, Here’s good news for iPhone 3G customers who’re looking to unlock their handset on other unofficial GSM carriers. A vendor which offers a number of cases, cables and other accessories for various iPhone and iPod models, USB Fever, plans to ship a hardware-based iPhone 3G SIM unlock on August 20th. It’s a SIM unlock made of a very thin piece of FPC (0.10mm) with a mounted micro-controller that fits between an an operators SIM card and the phone’s SIM socket.
