Skype New Mobile Beta released. Skype has launched a beta version for mobile phones. The new version supports 30 new handsets including:

No More SMS Delivery Reports on Verizon. SMS delivery confirmations have started being discontinued by Verizon Wireless to reduce network traffic. The discontinuation of this service reportedly started on Sept 9th on a regional basis. The switch should be complete in all regions by the end of this month. Customers will no more see the quick icon changes that happen when a text message has been delivered.

BlueWhaleMail - Free software for Mobile email. A new service launched by a former RIM’s employee Michael Maguire, which aims to deliver free push email and push Facebook service. Founder Michael Maguire believes that there are some great dedicated mobile email devices out there, which unfortunately are hard to configure for email.
Fun Text ‘Emotional Messaging’ app on selected 3UK devices. Under the deal, 3 customers will be able to access Fun Text’s services from the messaging menu of their phones, alongside SMS and MMS. The Fun Text platform lets them easily add rich media content to their text messages.
ShakeSMS Application - Shaking Nokia Phone to Read Text Message. ShakeSMS is an application for Nokia phones that allows you to answer text messages by simply shaking the handset. ShakeSMS is another accelerometer powered application from the Mr Tong Ren, developer of the very well known and very popular FlipSilent application. Shaking a phone to read text messages is as intuitive as swiping your finger across the screen to unlock it, but once you’re trained it becomes second nature.
Treasuremytext for iPhone. A prototype application that lets our users archive their SMS messages straight to Treasuremytext from iPhone. The application, still in beta but it will be a full new version when the iPhone SDK comes out, It requires Jailbroken iPhone with “Installer App” and a Treasuremytext account.
