What’s Winterface?
Winterface is Mobile shell for your Windows Mobile to look special. Winterface bundles a launcher, a task manager, and a multitude of Today plug-ins. This application allows you to have as many screens as you want and put icons on apps, settings and contacts. Interestingly, Flipping through screens is done by sliding finger gestures. Winterface virtually replaces default interface of touch screen Windows Mobile devices and gives the user unprecedented freedom to easily lay out interface exactly the way they like it.

Following on the previous OpenMoko Neo FreeRunner Available, Recently we’ve heard that Ars Technica has got their screenshots of the FreeRunner’s GTK-based Linux stack (om2007.2). Apple’s Webkit powers the FreeRunner’s browser, and a terminal application gives the user root-access to a BusyBox shell. There are a lot of similarities between om2007.2 and Nokia’s Maemo platform—both are based on GTK+ and use OpenedHand’s lightweight Matchbox window manager. OpenedHand also developed several other important pieces of the om2007.2 stack, including the personal information management suite, which is called Pimlico.

We’ve recently heard WinMo smartphone makers are making their custom UI to enhance the user experience, If Sony Ericsson decide to make its own UI for Xperia, Toshiba choose to license Spb Software’s apps to come pre-installed on Toshiba Portégé G810. The Toshiba Touch UI on Portégé G810 smartphone combines Spb Mobile Shell, a customized version of Spb Full Screen Keyboard, the Spb Pocket Plus smart scrolling component, and other Windows Mobile customization enhancements.

As a follow-up to the previous post, Toshiba Portégé G810 Windows Mobile Smartphone, According to Akihabara, this WinMo handset will be released on June 20th. Let’s recap, This all-touchscreen device features a large 2.8-inch display, QVGA (240×320 pixels). There’s also WiFi, GPS (and A-GPS support), Bluetooth, FM radio, HSDPA/HSUPA, and a microSD memory expansion slot. Toshiba Portégé G810 runs Windows Mobile 6.1 with some custom UI, and sports up to 4GB of memory (microSD).
