WeKit-based Iris Browser Beta 2 for Windows Mobile released. Torch Mobile has released a new version ‘beta 2′ of its Apple WebKit based web browser for Windows Mobile devices, is reportedly more stable than the previous Iris Browser release.
Over 100 bugs and issues were fixed and the browser is more optimized since the last Beta release and is said to be incredibly fast and stable now. The focus of this release was entirely on performance, smaller footprint (10 % smaller than Beta 1), user interaction improvements and stability as well as page rendering improvements.

Skyfire Mobile Web browser adds Silverlight support. Skyfire gets Silverlight support without its users having to install a new plug-in or even update the browser version. Skyfire browser is currently in private beta on the Windows Mobile and Symbian platforms.

New Firmware Update for Samsung Instinct. A new firmware update is now available for Samsung Instinct that includes a number of small tweaks as well as updates made to its base code. Instinct users will notice increased audio volume when using Bluetooth headsets/car kits, as well as improved stability of the phone’s signal and battery indicators. Web browser is also improved, there’s also an ability to set a saved image as the background wallpaper and recurring appointments are supported in the calendar. You’re already able to update your Samsung Instinct, go to Menu > Settings > General > choose ‘Update Phone’.

Digia @Web - 1st Finger Touch Web Browser for Symbian UIQ. A first full finger touch web browser for UIQ platform phones has been created by Digia Plc. This application which is called Digia @Web is designed for UIQ 3 and Symbian OS. The mobile browser is based on the open-source webkit browser engine ported to UIQ by Digia, and a whole new browser UI that gives powerful and intuitive access to true web content. Opera Mini 4.1 Silent Upgrade for Palm, BlackBerry. A “silent” update of Opera Mini 4.1 mobile-web-browser has been announced by Opera Software for Palm and BlackBerry device. With the new version (4.1.11355) of Opera Mini, BlackBerry devices are now able to use WiFi only. In addition, BIS might be working on the blackberry, The folks at Opera can’t guarantee that it’s working, but say it works on one of the two service providers they tested with.
