Torch Mobile has released a new version ‘beta 2′ of its Apple WebKit based web browser for Windows Mobile devices, is reportedly more stable than the previous Iris Browser release.

Over 100 bugs and issues were fixed and the browser is more optimized since the last Beta release and is said to be incredibly fast and stable now. The focus of this release was entirely on performance, smaller footprint (10 % smaller than Beta 1), user interaction improvements and stability as well as page rendering improvements.

HP Touchscreen SmartphoneHP Touchscreen Smartphone? We already heard Acer Smartphones in Q1 2009, It’s now HP. A new report says that Hewlett-Packard plans to unveil a touchscreen smartphone before end of 2008. According to the Wall Street Journal:

The new device will have a touchscreen and keypad and will use Microsoft Corp.’s Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system, say people briefed on the plan. It will be able to send and receive emails, and access the Internet.

The phone is the latest version of H-P’s iPaq devices. H-P, which has been selling iPaq-branded devices since it acquired personal-computer maker Compaq Computer Corp. in 2002, primarily focused earlier iPaqs on businesses and typically didn’t sell them through retail stores.

The mobile phone by ZTE comes with a dual mode that supports both HSDPA and TD-SCDMA (3G network for China). The new U990 has a high-speed transmission rate of up to 2.8 Mbps, the fastest transmission speed amoung the TD-SCDMA terminals available in the industry, offering consumers the best possible mobile experience.

The new model supports dual mode TD-SCDMA/EDGE allowing seamless transitions between the two networks. Its HSDPA speed is capable of reaching 2.8Mbps for downlink transmission and 384kbps for uplink transmission, ensuring high-speed HSDPA service under TD-SCDMA network infrastructure in China. ZTE U990 runs on Windows Mobile 6.0 operating system and is the first ZTE handset integrated with a Microsoft OS. It features 3G, equipped with both GPS/AGPS navigation technologies.
