Windows Mobile 7 in Q1 2009? A new rumor by PhoneReport.info for the long-awaited WinMo 7 devices. According to Kevin Chen, the HTC manager for MEA and CIS, we could see Windows Mobile-based smartphones launching with Windows Mobile 7 in Q1 2009. We’ll have to wait and see whether this rumor is true or not.

Change Windows Mobile 5 & 6 System Font. Merlin_reloaded and g77 over at XDA-developers forums has put together an easy solution to change the fonts on your Windows Mobile 5.0 PocketPC and Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional (and possibly some WinMo Smartphone devices as well) handset. The font-changing procedure is as easy as downloading the .cab file of your choosing (there’s one each for Myriad, Calibri, or Segeo UI) and installing it on your smartphone. Windows Mobile Smartphones hit 14.3 million in past 6 months. Microsoft’s press conference at Mobile World Congress (3GSM) 2008 was something of a counter-punch to the iPhone sales figures that have been floating around of late. Shipments of Windows Mobile smartphones hit 14.3 million units globally in the last six months, and Microsoft expects to hit 20 million units by June of this year. Windows Mobile 6.1 Features + Screenshots. WinMo fans would like to see more screenshots of Windows Mobile 6.1, unannounced version 6.1 of Windows Mobile Professional OS. According to some sources, it will be officially unveiled at 3GSM convention in Barcelona (February 11-14). The new version of the system should be considered as minor improvement, instead of as the next-generation WM OS. This can be guessed by its model number which is 6.1 instead of 7.

Samsung has released a software upgrade for the BlackJack SGH-i607, which includes an upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.0 and numerous enhancements/corrections. Samsung BlackJack or Samsung SGH-i607 is a smartphone available through AT&T in the United States and Telstra in Australia. Out of the box, it runs Windows Mobile 5.0, but as of January 23, 2008, can be officially upgraded to Windows Mobile 6.0.
