Windows Mobile 6.1 Firmware Update for ASUS P527. ASUS has released Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM update for ASUS P527. In this new WinMo 6.1 firmware, there are some bug fixes related to media playback, voice calls, and date/time.
It also brings enhanced GSM/EDGE radio functionality for a speedier data connection and a refreshed interface.

Palm Treo Pro for Rogers Canada? A recent rumor says that the latest Palm’s WinMo smartphone may come out on September 17. Palm Treo Pro is expected to come with 3G (HSDPA), GPS, 2 megapixel camera, QWERTY keyboard, 320×320 touchscreen, and microSD card slot. No word on pricing yet, but AT&T in the U.S. will be offering the Palm Treo Pro at a $549 price-point sans any contracts and in Europe you can pick this up for €399 through Vodafone and O2.

WinMo 6.1 Update for Verizon UTStarcom XV6800. Following the previous Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM update for AT&T Tilt (HTC TyTn II aka Kaiser), Here’s now good news for Verizon customers, UTStarcom-made Verizon XV6800 gets a Windows Mobile 6.1 upgrade. Unfortunately, Verizon have continued their long and storied tradition of breaking the phones on their networks by unnecessarily locking down features, hence even with the update if you need to use any location-based service, you’ll have to rely on the carrier’s VZ Navigator.

Iris Browser for Windows Mobile hits final preview. The final preview of Iris browser for WinMo has been announced by Torch Mobile, version 1.0.13 is now available for WinMo smartphones.
This release features primarily stability fixes and improvements on memory usage, network stability, and rendering quality, including fixes for Asian language sites.
Iris Browser for Windows Mobile also includes two major new features: page overview, and single-column (MDR) mode.

Asus GM5 aka O2 Xda Zest WinMo Smartphone? Global Certification Forum just approved the Asus GM5, codenamed “Christal” which seems to be developed for O2 as the “Xda Zest”. Like all other Xda phones, this smartphone will most likely run Windows Mobile, it has also triband GSM (900/1800/1900 MHz), singleband UMTS (2100 MHz), UMTS video telephony support and browsing capabilities. No word on release date yet. Stay tuned.

Samsung i740 finally official. Following the last report, Samsung SGH-i740 WinMo smartphone?, the Windows Mobile 6.1 powered mobile phone was finally announced in Ukraine. The tri-band (900/1800/1900 MHz) GSM/GPRS radio-enabled smartphone features a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen display, 3.2 megapixel camera, built-in GPS receiver, FM radio, Bluetooth, and a microSD memory expansion slot. Unfortunately, it has NO 3G nor WiFi connectivity. Samsung i740 costs around 285 EUR.
