USBw 100 by Motorola - world’s first WiMAX USB adaptor for laptops. Motorola unveiled its first WiMAX USB adapter, the USBw 100. Coming in size as a regular 3G USB modem, This thumb-drive-sized device is available in three versions to connect to WiMAX networks in each of the three bands approved for use around the world - 2.3GHz, 2.5GHz and 3.5 GHz. The Motorola USBw 100 plugs directly into laptop computers to provide mobile and nomadic wireless broadband connectivity, both indoors and out. It is expected to be available in Q4 2008. Option HSPA ExpressCard for Vodafone. A new wireless broadband ExpressCard exclusively developed for Vodafone has been launched by Option. It’s designed to achieve peak HSDPA download speeds of 7.2 Mbps with HSUPA uploads at up to 5.76 Mbps. First shipments have been delivered to Elisa, the Vodafone partner network in Finland and the world’s first commercial 3G HSPA 900 MHz operator. The ExpressCard also supports HSPA in the 900 MHz band that’s popular among mobile operators especially in Europe and Australia.

AT&T’s 3G Mobile Broadband Network Download Speeds Increase Up to 1.7 Mbps. AT&T announced a more than 20 percent increase to the top end of the company’s typical 3G network downlink speed range and a 50 percent increase to the top end of the typical uplink speed range for wireless laptop card customers(1). The upgrades are results of recent network enhancements, including the deployment of High Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA) technology across all existing 3G markets before the end of June.
