Verizon Wireless services being offered by Qwest. Qwest announced that it is now offering Verizon Wireless services to all new residential and business customers in its residential service area. Through the five-year agent agreement announced earlier this year, new Qwest customers can now purchase Verizon Wireless products and services, including handsets, smartphones and BlackBerry devices, as well as high-speed wireless broadband services for e-mail, Internet access and multimedia services, such as mobile music and video. Motorola MOTO W755 Available on Verizon. As a follow-up to the last post, Motorola W755 Pictures, The cellphone is now available on Verizon Wireless. Motorola W755 is a thin clamshell phone that looks like the RAZR. It has most of the same features and specs as the RAZR V3m with an addition of stereo Bluetooth support and external music control keys. Motorola MOTO W755 is available in purple and black from Verizon Wireless’ website for $69.99 with two-year contract and online discount.

Touchscreen BlackBerry Thunder for Verizon, Q3 2008. As a follow-up to the previous post, BlackBerry Thunder 9500 is the Apple Killer? Recently, The Wall Street Journal confirmed that the all-touchscreen BlackBerry handset will be out exclusively for Verizon Wireless in the U.S. and Vodafone abroad. Release date is set for Q3 2008 meaning September at the latest. We already heard before that Sony Ericsson will release XPERIA (XPERIA X1 to launch in mid-September?), 3G iPhone may also be announced (3G iPhone will launch at WWDC 2008, to be priced from $399). Wow, those will definitely make us more confused to decide which to buy.

Verizon BlackBerry Curve 8330 launched ahead of schedule. Following the previous post, Verizon BlackBerry Curve 8330 on May 9, they finally launched the BlackBerry Curve 8330 ahead of its previously scheduled release. Perhaps the carrier realized that its customers already waited long enough. The RIM BlackBerry Curve 8330 from Verizon comes with a 2 megapixel camera, QWERTY keyboard, EVDO data connection, GPS receiver, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, and microSD card slot. There are also Verizon-branded services like VCAST TV and VZ Navigator available on the Silver-colored BlackBerry Curve 8330.
Verizon BlackBerry Curve 8330 is available for about $170 (after 2-year contract and rebates). More information about this QWERTY-smartphone is available from Verizon Wireless website here.

Palm Centro in Blue for Verizon. A popular smartphone from Palm, Palm Centro in blue color is now available for Verizon Wireless customers. This cellphone is one of Palm’s successful devices. We’ve seen Palm Centro in Pink for Val’s Day for Sprint, the Palm Centro GSM on AT&T in White and AT&T Palm Centro Official without 3G, and next it is also expected to come for T-Mobile in the near future.

WiFi Access Point to Skyhook Wireless Database. The Wi-Fi Positioning System from Skyhook Wireless is a software-only location platform that provides 20 meter positioning accuracy to any Wi-Fi enabled mobile device. Unlike satellite based GPS systems, WPS uses terrestrial based Wi-Fi access points to determine location. Skyhook’s WiFi database is a great way to increase the accuracy of your iPhone v1.1.3’s faux-GSP positional features. With WiFi range maxing out at something like 100 feet, using WiFi access points to pin-point your location is a fairly accurate method - providing that you have a WiFi AP in range. Vodafone HSPA+ Trial alongside Ericsson, Huawei and Qualcomm. Vodafone is to trial HSPA+ along with Ericsson, Huawei and Qualcomm. It’s an evolution of today’s radio access HSPA technology, to assess its potential to deliver even higher data rates through the upgrade of existing network equipment. The technology, which is also known as HSPA Evolution, is capable of delivering data throughput rates of up to 28.8 Mbps — compared to the 14.4 Mbps maximum offered by today’s HSPA networks. If successful, the technology has the potential to extend the life of today’s HSPA infrastructure still further.
HSPA+ technology is designed to offer higher throughput than HSPA through its use of multiple antennae on both base stations and handsets (Multiple Input Multiple Output) as well as the deployment of a complex modulation technique called 64-QAM HSDPA.
