Jupiter Lander - Classic Commodore 64 Mobile Game by Eidos. The classic Commodore 64 (C64), Jupiter Lander will be released by Eidos this June 2008. The classic C64 game was released 25 years ago and since than it has been cloned for quite a few times. The storyline is simple: The one defining objective of this sub-genre is the inertia-based mechanics of safely and accurately manoeuvring some kind of landing space vessel.

In this latest re-imagining of Jupiter Lander, the retro model has been given a fresh lick of digital paint and a load of new levels to bring it up to modern standards in terrific style. Boasting 10 challenging stages, the player begins each level with a limited supply of fuel which is depleted every time the ship's thrusters are engaged. As the player progresses, the level designs grow more fiendish with craggy rock formations testing the player's skills, while later stages add ever more hazards.

Adding to the challenge are multiple landing zones located throughout the levels, with the harder to reach areas offering huge bonuses for the intrepid pilot. There's no limit to the number of times you can crash your vessel, as the game hinges on this limited amount of rocket propellant. Once you're out of fuel, the game is over, and at times keeping the tank sufficiently stocked can be frustratingly difficult.
