Palm Pre touchscreen slider phone. Palm Pre, a new touchphone with a full QWERTY keyboard that slides out from the phone into portrait orientation has been presented at CES 2009. Palm Pre features a 3.1-inch capacitance touchscreen (320 x 480) (has an accelerometer) with one silver center button at the base, 3 megapixel camera, GPS, WiFi, EVDO Rev. A data connection (3G), 8GB of on-board storage, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a very fast CPU based on the OMAP3 architecture (This is the first mobile phone to use the processor).

Another highlight is the wireless charger - it’s a first in the industry and it uses inductive technology. Palm has named this the “Touchstone” and will not be included in the box, but sold as an accessory.

Palm Pre which has a UMTS version and a CDMA version also comes with their new webOS which will launch with an application store that will be known as the “App Catalog.” Palm webOS, Palm's next generation operating system, integrates the power of a window-based operating system with the simplicity of a browser. The user experience is designed around multitasking, and makes it easy to run background applications, switch between applications in a single step, and handle interruptions and events without losing context. Using webOS, you’ll be able to develop fast (and beautiful) applications.
