Alltel Avatars - Mobile Animated Messages. With Alltel Avatars, you can now express your emotions using animated 3D characters to deliver pre-recorded and personalized messages. You can also create your own Alltel Avatar by simply uploading a photo from your phone or computer. The service enables users to choose from a library of pre-produced greetings or use templates to create their own greeting using 3D avatars, photos, voice and more.

Alltel Palm Treo 700wx ROM update. Following the previous Verizon Palm Treo 700p ROM update, a new ROM update is also available for Alltel Palm Treo 700wx, it’s version 1.12. This is a ROM update to fix a phone reset issue that occurs under certain specific and rare conditions.

HTC NEON400 on FCC, HTC Touch Dual CDMA version soon? Following on the previous HTC NEON300 (HTC Touch Dual) on FCC, Another HTC WinMo smartphone with CDMA network has been spotted on FCC. If the NEON300 on GSM network, this touchscreen NEON400 seems to be the ‘CDMA HTC Touch Dual’. Yeah, a little snooping around the FCC’s testing documents shows that this particular handset rocks a CDMA radio. We can’t wait to see this CDMA variant of HTC Touch Dual to be probably on Verizon?, Alltel?, or Sprint? Stay tuned.

Windows Mobile 6 for Palm Treo 700wx. We’ve recently heard that Windows Mobile 6.0 AKU 4.2 ROM is compatible with Palm Treo 700wx handsets. This should be a good news for people who’re having Treo 700wx on Verizon, Alltel, and Sprint’s networks. Before you grab it, please note that SDHC apparently doesn’t work at this point, however it may not bother most of Windows Mobile fans. For Verizon customers, while waiting for the ‘official’ Windows Mobile 6 ROM in 2H 2008, you can use this ROM too.

MetroPCS MetroFlash service for Sprint, Verizon, Alltel handsets. MetroPCS announced a new service called ‘MetroFlash’. With this, Sprint, Verizon, and Alltel phones can now be used on the MetroFlash flat-rate wireless service for a $40 a-month fee. CDMA mobile phones (which tested by MetroPCS) can be “flashed” by MetroPCS to work on their CDMA network. Of course, the service is limited to CDMA handsets, as GSM handsets, like the iPhone, work on a completely different communications standard. Alltel expanding WiFi service to 25,000 hotspots in the US. Following on previous Alltel EVDO Rev. A data network, Alltel in partnership with Boingo Wireless has expanded Alltel’s WiFi reach to 25,000 Alltel WiFi hotspots. Alltel is offering their Alltel WiFi service to US customers looking for monthly or daily WiFi access. Alltel Wi-Fi is available for purchase by anyone in the United States as a stand alone offer. Following on Verizon to acquire Alltel for $28.1 billion, Alltel Wireless just announced that it will continue expanding its wireless broadband network in 2008 with the launch of EVDO (evolution data optimized) Revision A technology, enabling customers to upload files five to 10 times faster than before. Alltel Treo 755p ROM update. A new ROM update for Palm Treo 755p has been released on the Alltel network. Palm only said: “This software update is for a phone reset issue that occurs under certain specific and rare conditions.” This new version 1.03 firmware seems like a stability update.
Maybe you’re already aware of this: Prior to updating you should perform a Hotsync to save your data. Palm advises that users allow up to 45 minutes for the operation. ROM updater executables for users with and without miniSD cards are available for Windows users. Mac users must run the launcher from an external expansion card.
