Truphone 2.0 for Android available

Truphone has announced a significant upgrade to its Android application with the launch of Truphone for Android v2.0. With a native interface and a completely reworked end-to-end user experience, the new Truphone for Android application is faster, more responsive and easier to use, making it the best ever Android application from Truphone.

In addition, customers can make voice calls to Skype and Google Talk(TM) buddies (costs as above). Customers can also easily instant message their friends across networks including Skype and Google Talk(TM), MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, AIM and Twitter.

Google mobile and desktop search history now in sync

Google has launched Personalized Suggest for Android, iPhone and Palm WebOS, which makes it really easy to repeat your past searches on the go.

For example, suppose that before I depart for the airport, I quickly check my flight status by searching for "american airlines 19" using google.com on my computer. Later, as I am hailing a taxi in rush hour traffic, I can open google.com on my phone, click in the search box, and choose "american airlines 19" from the list of search suggestions!

To enjoy this new feature, you need to be signed-in to the same Google Account on your computer and on your phone when searching. In addition, Web History needs to be enabled for your Google Account. Mobile users can turn on/off history by selecting "Save searches" or "Do not save searches" under Settings on google.com.

Google introduced Local Search for Mobile

Google has introduced a redesigned local search experience on your phone that integrates with Google Maps on your computer and includes browseable categories that let you search without typing.

You can access these features on your mobile device, by going to www.google.com/m/local, or just click on the Local tab on www.google.com. The product is available in the US and China, with more regions coming soon.

Telefónica (O2) testing LTE

Telefónica, has begun their LTE testing in the UK and Germany (through O2), Czech Republic, Brazil (Vivo), Spain and Argentina (Movistar). The LTE technology providers selected by Telefónica are: Nokia Siemens Network, Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Huawei, ZTE and NEC. LTE trials should start in the coming months.

Nokia joins Wireless Power Consortium

The Wireless Power Consortium (the Consortium) has announced that Nokia, the world’s largest mobile phone manufacturer, has joined the Consortium.
