BlackBerry Pearl 3G smartphone has been announced by Research in Motion - as 'the smallest BlackBerry smartphone yet' and the first BlackBerry smartphone to support 'n' of Wi-Fi 802.11. RIM has introduced the BlackBerry Bold 9650 smartphone – the latest addition to the BlackBerry Bold portfolio of premium smartphones.

BlackBerry Bold 9650 CDMA smartphone supports 3G (EVDO) networks in North America and (HSPA/UMTS) abroad and has a full-QWERTY keyboard (like the Bold 9700), optical trackpad and built-in WiFi (802.11 b/g), 512 MB Flash memory and an expandable memory card slot that supports up to 32 GB microSDHC cards, with a 2 GB card included.

Yahoo! services to be pre-loaded on Samsung phones

Yahoo! has announced a strategic global partnership with Samsung to distribute Yahoo!'s industry-leading services on millions of Samsung mobile devices -- including those running Samsung bada and Android platforms. Through this partnership Samsung will distribute Yahoo! services, including Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! Messenger, Yahoo! Front Page, Yahoo! Search, Yahoo! Flickr, Yahoo! News, Yahoo! Finance, Yahoo! Contacts, Yahoo! Calendar, and Yahoo! Weather on Samsung's mobile devices globally, currently planned to begin in May 2010.

New mobile OS being developed by the Japanese, to be compatible with Symbian and Linux

NTT DOCOMO, Renesas, Fujitsu, NEC, Panasonic and Sharp have announced their agreement to jointly develop a new application platform for mobile phones that will be compatible with both the Symbian and Linux operating systems.

Nokia C5, Nokia X5 TD-SCDMA phones for China Mobile

Nokia C5 and Nokia X5 have been announced for China in TD-SCDMA flavor. Both handsets will soon be available to China Mobile customers. The C5 and X5 will be the first devices to include the joint mobile app store – Mobile Market-Ovi Store. The devices will be able to make the most of China Mobile’s high-speed 3G network and come preloaded with apps including CMCC Music, Mobile Video and Fetion IM.

Firmware update 31.023 for Nokia E72

A new firmware update version 31.023 has been released for Nokia E72 smartphone. The new release comes with new pre-installed apps including Ovi Sync, Advance Communication Manager, Smart Connect, and Internet radio. Ovi Maps (free navigation and location sharing version) has been updated. Web has been updated to version 7.2 which brings full support for Flash Lite 3.1 in the web environment, Ovi Store (v1.5.436), Share online (v4.3.10.02), My Nokia (1.4) and the Start up and Email wizards (v2.1 and v2.05, respectively).

Optus SocialView Provides Access to Facebook, Twitter, MySpace andFlickr

Myriad Group AG has announced that Australian mobile network operator, Optus, has signed a commercial agreement to offer its eight million customers social networking services, powered by Myriad. This is the first social networking deal announced by Myriad since acquiring Xumii, Inc., the company that pioneered the use of cloud-based technologies to simultaneously connect mass-market phones to multiple social networks.

Now live, the Myriad-powered Optus SocialView service seamlessly adds social networking features to Optus’ existing mobile portal, Optus Zoo. Using a mobile phone browser, Optus users can now view friends’ messages from Australia’s most popular social networking sites – Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and Flickr. Users can also post their own updates and tweets, either to a specific site, or to all of their social networks simultaneously.
