ContactFlow is a former jailbreak app (via Cydia) that found its way to the official Apple AppStore. The app lets you slide through your contacts/iPhone address book in a cover flow style view, like the Cover Flow interface in iTunes and iPod. You can then scroll through your contacts by swiping your finger on your iPhone or iPod Touch’s screen. The Federal Chief Technology Officer and an Associate Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy Aneesh Chopra announced today the launch of text4baby – an unprecedented mobile health public-private partnership – designed to promote maternal and child health among underserved women. Text4baby – the first-ever free mobile health service in the United States – provides timely and expert health information through SMS text messages to pregnant women and new moms through their babies’ first year.
By texting BABY to 511411 (or BEBE for Spanish), women receive three free SMS text messages each week timed to their due date or baby’s date of birth. These messages focus on a variety of topics critical to maternal and child health, including birth defects prevention, immunization, nutrition, seasonal flu, mental health, oral health and safe sleep. Text4baby messages also connect women to prenatal and infant care services and other resources. BITStream has announced that the upcoming version of its BOLT mobile browser will include the ability to run Web applications, commonly referred to as “widgets.” Since BOLT is a Web browser that works on mobile phones of all types, the addition of Web apps will give BOLT users increased functionality on their mobile phones. The new BOLT Widgets capability will be introduced in beta as part of the upcoming 1.7 version of BOLT on Feb 15, 2010. Following on recent report that Page Plus Cellular lowers Voice Plan Rates, now The company also lowers roaming rate for prepaid mobile plans, its U.S. roaming rate will be lowered from $.59 per minute to $.29 per minute. The roaming rate is the rate customers are charged when using their cell phone outside of the home service area of the provider.
