Sprint's Samsung Instinct M800 (iPhone Competitor). As a follow-up to the previous post, Samsung SPH-M800 Sprint, Sprint has just announced the Samsung Instinct (M800). As an iPhone competitor, Sprint's Samsung Instinct comes with a 2 megapixel camera, GPS, FM radio, EVDO Rev. A (the first Rev. A device on Sprint), slim 3-inch touchscreen (pressure-based and flush with the face of the device), and microSD card slot.

Sprint's Samsung Instinct M800 Specifications:
+ 2.0 megapixel camera with 2x digital zoom and video camcorder
+ GPS, FM radio, EVDO Rev. A
+ microSD card slot
+ Dimensions: 2.17 x 4.57 x 0.49 inches; 4.4 ounces
+ Display: 3.1" TFT (240 x 432 pixels and 262K vibrant colors)
+ Standard Lithium (LiIon) battery: up to 5.75 hours continuous talk time*

Samsung Instinct boasts features including Visual Voicemail to let isten to messages in their order of preference and manage them with a tap of the screen. It also provides support for corporate and consumer (POP3) email, multitasking capabilities play music in background mode while surfing the Internet, texting or playing games.

Samsung Instinct (M800) looks and feels much like the Samsung U940 Glyde, without the sliding keyboard and without the award-winning Croix interface. The haptic feedback on the Samsung Instinct is the same pseudo-haptic feedback system that Samsung likes to use on their touchscreen handsets - the entire device vibrates with every touchscreen input. The vibration feedback novel at first, but then gets annoying quite quickly. The display's flush design helps to keep the Samsung Instinct's lines clean and smooth, and the LED backlit navigation buttons added a bit of flair to the device.

Using Sprint's EV-DO Rev. A broadband network, the Instinct can quickly browse the Web, access business or personal email, share pictures, listen to commercial-free radio and more. Peak download data rates increase to 3.1 Mbps and peak upload data rates to 1.8 Mbps; average download speeds improve to 600 kbps to 1.4 Mbps and average uplink speeds increase to 350 - 500 kpbs.

Contents include a 2 GB microSD card that holds approximately 2,000 songs from the Sprint Music Store, two standard 1,000 mAmp batteries offering up to 5.75 hours of continuous talk time each, battery charging sleeve, travel charger, USB cable, 3.5mm headphones with built-in microphone, and leather case with stylus.

Samsung Instinct will be launching in June 2008.
