At CeBIT 2008, Vodafone announced that they’ll be trialling their Otello image-based search technology in Germany. Vodafone is running trials with a German newspaper that lets users find out more about stories by photographing the images that appear in the article and MMSing the images.

The technology could one day be used to search for more information on famous places, DVDs, toys, consumer electronics, etc. by simply taking a picture with your handset and searching for related information.

CeBIT 2008

CeBIT 2008CeBIT 2008. After the recent CES 2008, For you that don’t get enough of a fix at MWC 2008 (GSMA Mobile World Congress 2008, formerly known as 3GSM), CeBIT 2008 only a few weeks in Hannover, Germany. Anyhow, this year CeBIT is being held from the 4th to the 9th, in Hannover – and there are 27 halls of electronics goodness.

The main difference between the MWC and CeBIT is that whereas MWC is more of an Telecoms industry show (and is located in the very lovely Barcelona), CeBIT is a more general consumer electronics show.
