Microsoft brings its first app to Android, called Microsoft Tag Reader.
Microsoft Tag Reader for Google Android allows you to use your phone as a mobile barcode reader. You simply point your phone’s camera at a tag, snap a picture, and the Tag program will interpret it.
Microsoft Tag Reader is also available for the Windows Mobile, J2ME, iPhone, Blackberry and Symbian S60 phones.
Microsoft Tag Reader is now available for download directly from the Android Market on your Android phone by searching for ‘Microsoft Tag’.

Java technology company Aplix Corporation has announced that it has acquired the assets of Zeemote Inc., in an all cash transaction. Aplix has retained the services of a number of key Zeemote staff including: Jim Adams and Rob Podoloff who will continue with their roles as VP Business Development and CTO respectively. Zeemote will operate as a separate subsidiary of Aplix Corporation and will remain at its Chelmsford, Massachusetts base.
Aplix Corporation embeds its JBlend (Java) platform on to more than 110 million mobile devices each year. Zeemote’s software will be included in the JBlend offering to enable the Zeemote JS1 Controller and other Bluetooth-enabled peripherals to be offered globally.
Opera Mini 5 mobile web browser has been released in beta as “The next generation of mobile browsing”. Coming with new user interface, the new version adds tabbed browsing, speed dial, and a password manager. The interface also optimizes the display for both touchscreen and keypad phones.
With tabbed browsing, you no longer need to interrupt one session to start another. Use your Web mail in one window, Facebook in another, Twitter in a third and all that while checking the latest sports results. With Opera Mini, you can easily identify the different tabs and jump between them.

Altek T8680 GSM phone has dedicated image processor, aperture ranging from F3.0 to F5.6 and up to 3200 ISO. The software offers face and smile detection, as well as touch focus, plenty of scenes and shooting modes. The camera is accompanied by a xenon flash. A new Java ME mobile app has been released by Google, it’s orkut Mobile App. The orkut Mobile App, available for most Java-enabled devices, provides all the features of orkut mobile at your fingertips, including writing/reading scraps, updating your status, searching for users, viewing/accepting friend requests, and more.

+ Take a photo on your phone and upload it right to your orkut album.
+ Share photos with orkut friends or SMS the photos to phone contacts not yet on orkut.
+ Call or SMS any of your orkut friends or phone contacts without leaving the app.
