HP has unveiled its first Android-powered netbook called Compaq AirLife 100. The HP Android smartbook comes with 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset (QSD8250), a 10.1-inch touchscreen, instant-on capability, dedicated Android keys at the touch pad, front-facing VGA camera for video calls, WiFi, HSPA, GPS with pre-installed NDrive navigation system, 16GB SSD, SD card slot, 512MB RAM, 512MB Flash memory, and a 3.5mm headset jack. ZTE has introduced at the 2010 GSMA Mobile World Congress, together with Qualcomm, the world’s first ultra-slim big-screen BMP 3G smartphone – ZTE Bingo. In addition, ZTE is showcasing its 5 Android smartphone models for the first time. With the availability of Linux, Windows Mobile and OMS-platform mobile phones, ZTE is one of the few mobile phone manufacturers to offer smartphones for a variety of mobile operating systems.
ZTE Bingo adopts Qualcomm’s Brew Mobile Platform (BMP), which is the Mobile Operation System that provides high-end functionality to mobile terminals. In addition to full support for Adobe Flash, the platform also provides such advanced terminal functions as touch screen, multimedia, window management, open platform scalability and extended support for local application development. Motorola has announced the launch of MILESTONE in Spain to become the first Android 2.1 phone in this market. MILESTONE will be available for all the Spanish consumers from mid-march.

Sony’s CEO Howard Stringer said at the Mobile World Congress that the PlayStation Network is heading to Sony Ericsson phones. Previously, also at MWC, Microsoft showed off Xbox Live on Windows Phone 7.
Here’s what Sir Howard said:
“PSN is no secret weapon. Leveraging PSN we are building a new network service that will connect many more network enabled product including Sony Bravias, Viaos and Blu-ray players. To satisfy the demand for more open systems and to broaden the array of network devices connected to our network services we are committed to extending that service to Sony Ericsson mobile phones.
As part of these initiatives we are also exploring consistent user interfaces across Sony Ericsson products to ensure a seamless and integrated experience for the consumer.”

The GSMA, which represents the interests of the worldwide mobile communications industry, and the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women, a charity that supports women entrepreneurs have published ‘Women and Mobile: A Global Opportunity’. The report, the first detailed global study of its kind, attempts to understand the nature of women mobile subscribers in low and middle-income countries such as Kenya and India, and highlights the barriers facing women’s adoption of mobile technologies. It also shows that, by extending the benefits of mobile phone ownership to more women, a host of social and economic goals can be advanced. Orange has launched a new daily data roaming tariff across the European Union (EU). The EUR2 for 2MB daily data bundle is designed to offer Orange customers peace of mind when accessing mobile data services anywhere in the EU. It is designed to give customers the confidence to check their mail, surf the web and access social networking sites abroad, safe in the knowledge that they know exactly what the cost will be when they return home. Specifically for iPhone customers and launching in France first with some other countries to follow, Orange is also offering a EUR5 for 10MB daily data roaming.
