Samsung SGH-i780 Confirmed for Europe
Samsung SGH-i780 Confirmed for Europe. The Korean mobile phone manufacture, in a meeting with Samsung Europe, confirmed that the anticipated Samsung SGH-i780 Windows Mobile 6 Professional smartphone got its European launch this week.

Anyway, so far Orange UK and Telef√≥nica Movistar have confirmed to carry the Samsung SGH-i780 and according to the handset maker other — still not disclosed — mobile operators will follow in the near future.

In the meantime, German got the first shipments and already sold them out. Next shipments are expected for the end of this month, when you can grab the all-in-one smartphone for 489 Euro. That's for an unlocked device, of course.

Be careful with this one. The original firmware does not have a way to do a hard reset other than through a menu choice in Windows. That is all and fine if you are able to launch WM6, but if you can't the device is useless. There are multiple threads on this online, and Samsung in most countries are clueless about it and refuse to release the firmware upgrade online. I bought mine in the US, but live in Australia, and even Samsung here cannot get the upgrade. Wish I never left my Treo.... :(

I can confirm I have a nonworking i780 and I have not found a way yet to do a simple hard reset. The device should not have been shipped without this crucial functionality.

another annoying problem is that the LED light does not work when phone goes in top standby mode.
Have written in to Samsung but no response....
Samsung needs to get it's act together if it wants to be a seriuos contender in the increasingly competitive market
