Symbian New Advanced LBS, SQL and Dolby Mobile
Symbian New Advanced LBS, SQL and Dolby Mobile. Symbian announced Symbian SQL and an advanced Location Based Services (LBS) architecture – two new technologies that herald the next generation of mobile computing by offering dramatic enhancements in the vital areas of mass data handling and LBS. Expect devices with this technology to come out by the end of this year.

Location Based Services, otherwise known as LBS, will also be backed into the operating system therefore decreasing the time to market and complexity a manufacture would usually run into if they attempted to write an LBS implementation for their devices from scratch.

And the second news; Dolby and Symbian just confirmed that Dolby Laboratories has joined the Symbian Platinum Partner Program, offering Dolby® Mobile for Symbian OSTM. This new solution enables rich and vibrant surround sound from various types of mobile entertainment content, including music, movies, television, and games, to Symbian smartphone users around the world.

Dolby Mobile offers Symbian licensees the ability to differentiate their multimedia-focused products even further by offering a more immersive audio experience on the go. The first mobile phones featuring Dolby Mobile technology are already available in Japan. More information about Symbian SQL, LBS. And, more details for Dolby Mobile for Symbian OS.
